iTYP - Influence Thurston Young Professionals with Pete Kmet, Mayor of Tumwater

Thursday, October 21, 2021 (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM) (PDT)

Description

iTYP - Influence Thurston Young Professionals is back again, for the third installment of iTYP!

Influence Thurston Young Professionals is a Thurston Young Professionals (TYP) Program, and is returning on October 21stat Noon, at the Port of Olympia Conference Center (or virtual). iTYP will continue to connect TYPs with business leaders in our region. TYP is looking to help bridge the distance between entering into a professional work environment and the management and/or executive career paths.

In our final gathering of our 2021 series, you will hear from Pete Kmet, Mayor of Tumwater.

Pete Kmet was elected in November 2009. Prior to being elected as Mayor, Pete served on the Tumwater City Council for 18 years and as Mayor Pro Tem for 14 of those years. Pete recently retired as a senior environmental engineer with the Washington State Department of Ecology.

Pete and his wife, Nancy, have two adult sons, Michael and Nicholas, who were raised in Tumwater. In his spare time, he enjoys participating in community events, woodworking, and reading about the early days of space exploration.

Mayor Kmet wants neighborhoods to have a strong voice at City Hall and is always looking for new ways to encourage people to participate. Pete believes Tumwater is poised to do great things and enjoys helping Tumwater become an even greater place to live, work, and play.
