DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION:
The Second Chance Solution
Join our Guest Speaker, Founder and Executive Director of Recovery Career Services, Ty Reed, as he helps guide your business to a better understanding of the second chance solution.
Many employers are having difficulty filling positions due to various factors, is yours one of them? The large - and often - overlooked and untapped pool of individuals in recovery or with past criminal justice involvement may be the resource that is missing from your recruitment strategy. Ty will help you shed, the "stigma" of hiring others in recovery or with a criminal record.
Create a win-win situation: businesses like yours can make a positive impact within the community while improving your bottom line, while the employee gets a job that provides income, self-esteem, and hope.
The US has the highest rate of incarceration in the world. As a result, the US workforce includes a significant number of people with criminal records, which presents a challenge for job seekers — and an incredible opportunity for smart employers. Routine complaints about the lack of available talent for hard-to-fill positions may be addressed by dipping into this often overlooked and untapped talent pool. The stereotypes just aren’t accurate. Statistically, “individuals with criminal records have a much longer tenure and are less likely to quit their jobs voluntarily than other workers.” This workshop explores the advantages of hiring people with criminal histories and advises employers on how to have more inclusive hiring practices.
Employers should know that providing these opportunities is not charity or a handout. There is real talent in the pool of people in recovery or those with criminal convictions. These potential employees are ready and eager to make a real, positive contribution to an organization and are far more likely to offer loyalty and enthusiasm in return for a chance.
