What is Juneteenth?

Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. It is also often observed for celebrating African American culture. Originating in Galveston, Texas, it has been celebrated annually on June 19 in various parts of the United States since 1865.

What will I learn during the interactive workshop?

You will learn the roots of Juneteenth, its connection to the end of enslavement of African- Americans in the U.S., why and how we honor the day, and how this historic moment changed American history.

Connect the dots to how a lack of information leads to a lack of understanding that negatively affects people of African descent.

Action steps toward creating a more inclusive lens within your personal and professional worlds.

Who will present this critical information?

Equity Through Action will guide you on a journey through history about this moment and its connections to the present day.
