A Day to Say "Thank You" to Local Military

Foofaraw - /ˈfo͞ofəˌrô/ n. 1. frills and flashy finery 2. a great deal of fuss or attention given to a minor matter. 

We do make a big deal about Foofaraw, and honoring our military is no minor matter.  On Friday, September 5th the Thurston County Chamber and the Olympia Yacht Club will host over 250 active duty military service members at Island Home, a private island owned by the Olympia Yacht Club.

Checking in at the Olympia Yacht Club, attendees receive their transportation assignments and then head out to the island for a day of fun and games as well as a traditional salmon bake, provided by Lucky Eagle Casino & Resort & The Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis.  Each civilian registration ($100) helps sponsor two active duty military guests to attend who are selected by military branch Public Affairs Officers.

Please arrive no later than 7:30 a.m. - we set sail at 8 a.m. sharp.  Plan to return to the OYC main station in downtown Olympia at 5 p.m.

We meet at the Olympia Yacht Club in downtown Olympia and then set sail for Island Home - a private island owned by the Olympia Yacht Club.
